New roof, new paint, new landscaping and driveway...what's there to do? Enjoy!?!?

One of the best things about this house is how low maintenance it really is.  With block, vinyl siding, a wide open crawl space, and tons of glass, it's an almost perfect bay house.

Since everything grows well in the moist waterfront conditions, the only real thing to maintain is the grass.   Even with the very large pin oak trees, the leaves are swept out to sea by the bay breezes, without an ounce of effort.  

 

In 20 years, we never really winterized the house. We just turned down the heat to 50 degrees, turned off the water pump, and locked up the doors.   And with a particularly efficient heat pump, a warm fire, and airtight windows, there wasn't as much as a draft, and the house was every bit as comfortable in the winter with heat as it is in the summer with air conditioning.
